Need some fundraising inspiration?

Here are some fun ideas to get you started!

Hold an ‘Active Challenge’ for Very Special Kids

To support children in 24-hour care we have seen many individuals and groups successfully take on half an hour of exercise for 24 consecutive days, asking their networks to sponsor their efforts, but the options are endless! Whether walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, and whether joining an organised event or creating a tailored challenge, this option is for anyone, anywhere!

Host a shopping event for friends, family and colleagues

The easiest way to plan a shopping event is to enlist the help of the fashion and fundraising experts at The Ark (in its six Victorian stores) or Creswick Natural Fibres (located in Hawthorn). Both stores can take care of drinks and nibbles, with a percentage of proceeds from all items sold on the night going straight to Very Special Kids. Or, if thrifting is more your style, you could host your own event at home: asking guests to clean out their cupboards & bring over unwanted clothes and homewares for others to buy for a donation to Very Special Kids.

Fundraising through a local sporting club

Whether it’s rattling tins at the gates of your local sporting venue on a Saturday, holding a sausage sizzle and/or bake sale in the carpark of your local netball court or football oval, or asking all dancers participating in the end-of-year concert for a gold coin – enlisting the help of your local sporting club is a great way to raise funds. Those coins really add up!

Put your creativity to the test

From putting together a magic show and busking on a busy street, to sewing aprons and selling them on Facebook, to scheduling all your musician friends to play at a backyard, BYO-picnic style concert for friends and family – Very Special Kids never ceases to be impressed by the inventive ways third parties choose to fundraise for us. The sky is the limit!

Tried and true fundraising events

Thousands of golf days, trivia nights and black tie dinners are held each year, with good reason! These events, while a little more labour intensive, can have incredibly rewarding fundraising outcomes. Whilst we can’t sell tickets for you, our events team will happily apply our expertise to your event if desired, including providing a guest speaker and/or volunteers at the event when possible.
